Block House is a contemporary single family home in the Kawartha Lakes region west of Dalrymple Lake near Orilia. The challenge put forth by the client was to design a minimal contemporary style home with high quality sustainability features. Our design team focused on materiality as a means through which to reflect a sense of contemporality and highly insulated exterior walls to retain thermal energy.A material palette of white architectural concrete, brown wooden siding and navy panelling encapsulate the building exterior while expressing the major volumes of the proposed structure.
